SÛRE-I ASR

Vel Asri
Swearing on the declining day/ the time of evening

İnnel insane lefiy husr.
Man is really in a state of loss (disappointment).

İllelleziyne amenu ve amilus salihati, ve tevasav Bilhhakk ve tevasav Bis-sabr.
Excluding those who believe, who do pious works, and who exhort (recommend strongly) one another to find?? HAQ (the truth), to have endurance (the power of bearing patiently the pain, suffering and the similar for along time)! ...

The Chapter of Asr has descended in Makkah. The companions had made a habit of reading this surah to each other whenever they came together. It consists of recommendations and advice.

In Arabic, the word Asr is used both to mention 'the evening time' and a ''century''. Mostly, all the actions, with the aspects of good and evil, become manifest in the individual in accordance with the rule of the innate composition. Therefore, the human beings are warned that during this time they could be in a state of disappointment/loss.

In this Chapter, people are being told to recommend strongly HAQ/The TRUTH and ENDURANCE. When we look at this carefully, we can also find
inherent in these verses, that it is necessary to have the necessary knowledge about the concepts of ENDURANCE and HAQ.

Another point is that the Absolute Being, that is free from all the concepts of time and place is taking the century (asr), which is considerably a long period of time for the humans, to warn them about the ultimate end.

It should be kept in mind that the oath of Allah at the beginning of this Chapter is not like an oath made by an ordinary person.
The reason for the presence of Allah's oath is for focusing the attentions of the people.

As indicated in this Surah, the people who are not in a state of loss/disappointment are the ones who believe, who have faith and perform actions based on their beliefs.
The Koran says that before all else, the base level for those who are not in a state of disappointment, belongs to the class of those people who are believers and who perform pious works .
