o
be a human being is not easy, a quality that is difficult to
have!...
The
famous philosopher Dalai Lama who is very sensitive about this
subject has shown us a different way of looking at this.
I’m
writing the prayer that he repeats often. Let’s have a brief
look at this and see how
hard it is to be a human and
let’s decide to do somethings from now on.
Here
is Lama’s prayer :
“When
I have a relation with anybody I wish deep in my heart that
I could see myself as the lowest among the people and the
person across me as
the greatest of all people
!..
When
I see beings with a sinful
character, but who
are extremely embarassed because of
their sins full
of violence and sorrow, I wish I could embrace these rare people
as if I had found a valuable treasure!..
When
people hurt me because of their jealousy, by their slanders or
by some other similar
thing and behave badly towards me, I wish I could suffer from
this defeat and present the victory to them!..
When
the person to whom I’ve devoted myself
with big
expectations breaks my heart badly, I wish I could embrace him
as he is the greatest being for me!..
In
short, I wish to be beneficial and helpful to all the beings
directly or indirectly and make them happy!..
I
wish I could gather on myself
all the damage and the troubles
that all the beings have!..”
So,
you may say “If we can behave in this way, then it would be
possible for us to reach the ‘beauties’ !
However, it appears
that these suggestions are only for the people who are good at
heart…
Most
of us are trying hard to be a “human” and trying to provide
the conditions required in the light of the similar teachings,
but on the other hand the tension is climbing up in our
society!..
If
this tension is transformed into a
break down, it
will certainly bring a psychological case along with it…
Nowadays,
what the people do and say to each other
is considered as something very important.
As a result of this
it becomes impossible to notice
the real beauties
in one’s self.
In
our individual and social existence, by some reason the
activities and relationships that show our humane qualities
suddenly leave their place to ugliness.
I
can say that this is inherent in the human being and it has a
relation with the innate program/ the gene.
We
can accept the wish
to reach the beauties as a pushing/encouraging/stimulating
factor to broaden one’s horizons.
I
think that it would be useful to go deeper into the
‘’priciples of inequality’’ that make up the ugliness,
or to state it in a
more clear way, that make ugliness become more active. In my
opinion, though slightly such behaviour would help to cover up
one’s mistakes.
While
the individual is living amidst the circumstances where the
beauties are dominant if by some reason he doubts that one day
he’ll loose all of these, then this would be enough for him to
weaken the beauties or maybe loose them completely and get
frustrated.
On the other side, the
individuals are trying to prove their superiority to one another
all the time. This
stimulates the understanding ‘’destroy the other’’ and
which naturally brings the various negative aspects along with
it.
Under these conditions some start to dominate others and some
start to obey what is being told
whether willingly or unwillingly. Most of the
disagreements result from the subjects in connection to this
domination and it causes all
the beauties of both
sides get covered up
and the ugliness to come out into the open.
In
order to be a human being and
live the beauties, perhaps the best we could do is to
make humanly wishes and to consider
the rights of the others very well...
Confusing the beauties and the ugliness, taking as a guide the
obsessions’, benefits’, ambitions’
will produce mistakes that can never be repaired.
Therefore,
it is necessary
to avoid these negative factors all the time….
