Close to
dawn the earthquake caught us
in our sleeps. When we take into consideration how great its magnitude
was, then we may say that we have gone through it without having more
harm. Is it
possible to forget that instant, the creaking mixed sounds, the rocking,
shaking which lasted for fortyfive seconds as if we were in a cradle, and
our rush to the streets? Most
probably we shall never be able to FORGET this instant during our life
time... Starting
from the instant of the earthquake, the radio and the tv channels started
broadcasting. As we were staying in the street we kept an ear on
the radio. The speakers, with
incredible effort in those noisy surroundings and in spite of the
interruptions were informing
us about the dimensions of the
event without any fear... Most of
the people around me were having a shock. There were all kinds, some who
want to wake up early in the morning and go to work , some young girls who
thought the street was a podium and started to walk swinging like a
model!... All of
them were shocked !... The very
first thing that came to the minds was to call the close relatives and the
friends, because the earthquake had caused great losses both in lives and
possessions. These people were anxious to know
the conditions of their close ones depending on the districts they
lived. The
private radio channels should be congratulated. For myself, the only
awkward thing was the choice of the music played between the times of the
news... The
lively pop songs from singers like Robert Hatemo and Tarkan... Wouldn’t
it be better if they had read the Koran!.. The only cure which could save
the people from the shock was the Koran... How
correct it is to keep or prison at the heads of the beds the Koran which tells about the Universe, the time, the human being,
the universes within the universes and which is going to take people from
darkness to the light energy!... As we
have said that there was shock, therefore we should regard these as
normal... We have
learned about the buildings which collapsed
in Sefakoy and Avcılar first with the help of
the cooperation between the
radio workers and the taxi drivers. Afterwards,
the teams from the TV channels with helicopters went to those districts
which could not be reached from
land. All of
what has been told above is the transfer of the things that we have seen
onto a piece of paper. In
addition to these the old buildings remained as they are, while the
conditions of the recently built ones are obvious. This is a very good
example of the existing level of morality. Let us
look at what Çetin Altan has written on Sunday, August 22nd,
1999: ‘’All
the scientific circles in Turkey knew abot these studies. They knew it to such an extent that on March 19th
1999, a panel was arranged on the subject ‘’How much Kocaeli is
prepared for an earthquake?’’
The
participants of the panel
were Oğuz Gündoğdu, Associate Professor of Jeophysics from Istanbul
Technical University, the
vice governor of Kocaeli, the head of
the Municipality, the
representatives of the Civil Defence, Ministry of Public Works, and Kızılay... I
apologise for what I am going to say, but this pannel has slipped and
became lost like the fart of a drummer.’’ This
earthquake that has set its way towards Istanbul has given way to
unbelieavable tragedies; the
upset living conditions, the ruined families, the loss of the hopes for
the future, people who have
become disabled, the illnesses and so on.... It came
like a cloud of fog and took away what it had to take. Those who had various
dreams yesterday have passed over to different worlds by now...
The ones who have remained are still having a shock...
It is not known
how these brains would
be put in order again... Now let
us come to other element; The
reality of Astrology... Astrology
never makes definite decisions such as saying ‘’on this date at
such and such an hour such a happenning will take place’’
therefore, it does not let us
name an event. However,
it helps us to see the different possibilities and take the necessary
precautions starting from definite and certified data...
Since the early ages, the eclipse of the sun has been accepted as a
messenger of disaster in different cultures and beliefs;
well we cannot deny that there is some truth in all of these. On August
11th, we have
turned this event, the eclipse of the Sun into a feast, were very proud
that it could be seen clearly from our country and we have spent the
utmost effort to have a better vision of it. We, ofcourse did not want to
think that the last eclipse of the century would be a signal of disaster. We are
accepting that there are more important factors which we are unable to
know. We only know the
obvious factor; the cosmic warning. From
the point of the cosmic warners the start of this disaster has been given
on August 7th. Before, in this web site
we had stated our astrological views about August 1999.
We had said that the T SQUARE between Saturn-Uranus-Mars has very
powerful stirring, compelling, explosive influence open to accidents. The total
eclipse of the Sun which has taken place in the sign Leo and the
influences of the Moon-Sun together have brought a second load of energy
to the above stated positions of the planets. The sun
sign of Turkey is Scorpio. This means that this country has the most powerful effects from the Total Eclipse of the
Sun and from the powers Saturn which is in Taurus and Uranus in Aquarius. And last
of all on the date of the earthquake, the Moon which has entered Scorpio
has pulled the trigger and made way for
the accumulated energy in the fault lines to come out in a powerful way. On
Wednesday August 18th 1999, the
famous astrologer Yasemin Boran has written in the Newspaper Hürriyet
that the earthquake had a relation with the eclipse of the sun
and said ‘’To tell the truth I wasn’t expecting to see
the effects so
quickly’’. Another
meaning of the eclipse of the Sun is changes and returning back to the
old. All of these give pain.
They force us to give up what we have been used to and to get rid of our
conditionings. Now, a
lot of things have changed for each of us.
It is not the time for regret; but now is the time to be more
sensitive and more thoughtful. Now is the time to take examples from what
we have lived, now is the time to change... Ahmet F.Yuksel Nuran Tuncel
