THE
INCREASE IN THE PRICES I
do not understand anything from politics and I
refrain from writing political
essays. I
had written only for once a political subject named ‘’A new leader is
born’’, but did not
publish it
because of the strong criticisms. The
reason why I have wrote it was for paying my debt to the Radio ‘Izmit
Sancak FM, where I had made a series of
speeches about the mystical subjects. The radio was
a follower of the political party MHP, in a way its official means for
broadcasting.
The programmes were live and they were addressing the
intellectuals.
Later on, because of the endless repair on the road to Izmit, where
I had to travel once a week, those programmes in the radio had to be
stopped. I
had another essay which was not political, but which spoke about some
social subjects which I had not changed this time. It is named
as; ‘’Talking
with the Reader’’ In
this essay which I
had written during the time when Mr.Mesut Yýlmaz was the Prime Minister,
I had emphasized two points; The
first one
was for those who had chosen Islam as their religion. I had stated that
they should be very careful in what they say, otherwise they would have to
face some events. The
second point was that these increases made by the government (which have
been going on since twenty years) would never
reach a satisfactory level and that they had a negative effect on
the poor. Since
that time nothing has changed much... Especially, it is obvious that the
increases in the prices that have been made recently are not going to take
our people any further... The
price increases that the government is reflecting to the people are
arranged according to those with an income level above the average. If the
conditions of living pertaining to that section of the society are taken
as a basis in arranging the various price increases, then there is a very
little chance of living for those
who are below that base. The
hundred percent increase made to the charges for crossing
over the bridge have been made in an irresponsible way saying that it
would be making the transactions easier in terms of
money.
However, this is an emotional, untimely application. This
is an open document which shows that the rulers of this country have no
idea about the prevailing living conditions. When
the absolute creator is hitting
by one percent, the hit of the created is not less than that. Unfortunately,
poverty and the lowering in the living standards are waiting for the
Turkish people. Please,
watch the films made in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, you are going to
see the examples for these!... Some
time ago there was a saying which was used very often; ‘’We
laugh at our sad conditions for which we should be crying’’... Most
probably, we are living in such a period. Hoping
to meet you next week with another subject... Ahmet F. Yüksel |
