eing
the same has limits, whereas change is inevitable. The human
being who has showed a great development/advancement with limited concepts is very well
aware of this. Every single individual
who questions the meaning of life, who has set out to explore
his own self, who has accepted the fact that
s/he has creative qualities should put forth the changes
that take place in himself in time.
Just
look; even the seasons are making the necessary preparations for
change. Summer has started to disappear and it is preparing to
leave its place to autumn.
The birds in the sky are whispering to each other and
deciding where to go. The weather is getting cooler. The sea is
starting slowly to murmer and become more wavy…
Nothing
is the same as before, everything is in a continuous change…
Ahmet
Muhip Dranas is one of the
famous Turkish poets. In the below line taken from one of
his poems, he has approached the same subject from
another angle. He wants to talk about another aspect of the
same subject. In the below lines where he is reflecting his
observations concerning everything contrary to change,
he is saying
‘’It
is the same, the same , the same…’’
Obviously,
he is speaking about the feelings that are always the same and
which cannot find any outlet…
The
thing that makes him right is that our lives go on in the same
manner and this does not add any colour to us.
When a human being says that s/he is not the same as
before that he has changed, then does it mean that s/he has he
really changed ? I
do not think so. There
is an old saying ‘’Even if an individual becomes seventy years old his character is the
same) as the time when he was seven years old. No matter how
much s/he wants to show himself
in a different way’’. These
have all been said on purpose. It is possible to change in
shape, but it is very difficult to get changed in terms of
the contents, the character.
Ziya
Paþa, another famous Turkish poet has emphasized this situation
in a wonderful way by saying ‘’A donkey will still be a donkey even if you put a
golden panel over it’’.
This means that the golden panel may change the look of
the donkey, but it does not have the power to change the
inner world of the
donkey.
Most
probably, by these metaphorical words Ziya Paþa wants to point
out the human being!
The
only way for the individual -who has got stucked in the quick
sand named as the constant state without any change- to
save himself from
this is to concentrate on the mind and the knowledge (the
science). In addition to this s/he has to establish a dialogue
between today and tomorrow.
The
poet Kemalettin Kamu has the pleasure of
being successful in doing
this…
‘’There,
in my room are the two brothers,
One is yesterday and the other is tomorrow.
As for myself,
I am a bridge between them.’’
Whereas,
Necip Fazýl has stated the marks that have been left by the events
in a human’s life as follows:
‘’One
day, when this rain stops
The mirrors will not recognize my face.’’
It
is understood that he is speaking about a careless style of
dressing, the hair which is getting less and less and which
becomes impossible to comb, the tired feet… In short, he is
talking about a portrait which looks
ugly and careless.
We
wonder if the
mirrors are really unable to recognize us or we, ourselves have
been cross with the mirrors!..
We are not going to argue about their reasons…
Not
only in the mirrors, but also in the pictures that have faded
away we do have difficulty to notice our own selves.
However,
I also cannot accept this state as a real change… !
