hey
had met at the hotel lobby to have five o’clock tea.
The melancholy of a misty evening was coming down. The
sea which was full of thoughts was preparing itself
for the night. At the same time it was the weight that
comes from the looks of those who were watching with
melancholic, pale eyes.
There were around seven or eight people in the group.
All of them were very close friends except one.
That visitor was the relative
of one of the
friends.
They talked about this and that. They talked about the things
going on within the country, from the sports and so on. The
probability of having another earthquake was also among
the discussed subjects..
In that deep conversation, the victory of Galatasaray was
evaluated separately with feelings of envy.
At one of those silent moments, the middle aged
visitor who had an open forehead and hair combed back
with a styling gel asked his friend
‘’Is this the one
whom you were talking about?’’..
His friend who was hosting the group at the same time
answered ‘’Yes, that’s him.’’
‘’He is very good. If you have any questions ask them
immediately. He’ll do his best to answer them.’’
The other one thought
‘’Well, he does not look like his photo. He looks much
more younger and he is well groomed. I should be demanding
towards him!’’.
He started to speak by saying ‘’Excuse me’’ and continued
- I know on which subjects you are working. I am going to have
some questions. These are the subjects that I am curious about.
I would be very happy if you could answer them...
Then placed his first question ...
‘’Lately, the events
that our country has been going through has made our people
loose their mystical
feelings. Could you tell me the reasons? I would like to
have your opinion on the subject.
In my opinion, there is no relation between religion and
people’s being close to it or staying away from the religion.
Religion is not a hobby.
Do
you want to hide those
who are giving orientations to the religion and running after
dark and bad objectives under a veil of
innocence?
- I do not have such an
intention. I only wanted
to explain that it
is necessary to know, understand and evaluate what is being
meant by ‘’Religion’’ and what is its objective. The
examples for this has been given by Hz.Rasul of Allah…
It
is obvious that you do not want to interfere
with the socio-mystical points!
Well, I prefer not to do so.
In spite of the fact that all my taboos have got
demolished, that does not mean that I should have a more
different position and attitude in comparison to the
the whole society.
Setting
oneself free from the taboos… I could not understand what this
means? What kind of a relation does it have
with mysticism?
As far as I can understand, you are not ready for such a
subject or to put it more correctly
you have not found it necessary to investigate mysticism
with a deeper understanding.
Within this context I should respect
what you think. I am one of
the defenders of the idea which says that the taboos do
not have any place in the mystical field.
The words
taboo, mysticism meant nothing for the visitor. Actually, he
found them very strange.. However,
in spite of this fact he must have liked the honest, correct
answers, therefore he went on asking his questions.
Since,
you are talking about setting oneself free from the taboos. What
would you recommend for the
religious education?
In my opinion, it
is necessary to determine very well the objectives and the means
for attaining those objectives. If, at the beginning this
understanding does not settle well in your mind, then you will
be having a very complicated picture.
You won’t be able to evaluate the message that Hz.Rasul
of Allah wants to give to us. The secret of
the message that he wants to give is being hidden the
prayer ‘’Ettehiyyatü’’. This perception is going to
bring the individual to the stage of
finding his own truth and put forth the difference
between the objective and the means. If, in any case you confuse
these two concepts, then the outcome would be ‘’the religion
that you understand’’ not ‘’the religion which is wanted
to be explained’’.
As a matter of fact, all that we say for the mystical dimension
should be in accordance with the Quranic values and the hadiths.
Let me tell you again, the individual has to act in accordance
with these warnings which can be considered as messages.
If, someone has not
understood what is
being named as religion is the system itself
and that he must be
concerned with and become aware of
the rules of this system, then it means that he has
understood nothing from this subject.
These are my suggestions.. There is another point which I
must add. It is not enough to set oneself free from the taboos
and the value judgements. Being scientific should take place at
the first stage and the practices known in general as the
prayers should be in harmony with the objective of knowing
one’s own truth and reality. If the means are being ranked
above the objectives, then it means that you are not
aware of what you
are doing. All the thoughts in this direction will bring you the
understanding of serving the idol/god in your mind which is a
complete delusion.
In the Faculties of Theology which are accepted as the basic
points for this work, the science is being transferred to the
students only by making
them memorise the information. In this respect the function of
the science is stopped. The real viscious circle starts at this
point.
What should be done is to
make it compulsory for the popular science (which has a rational
approach to the Quran and the Hadiths)
to come into the education field.
In our case, it has become a taboo to accept the knowledge by
means of verbal transfer. We are
never noticing the
delusion at this point. As our people do not know the depths of
this subject, they think that the graduates from the faculties
of Theology, especially those who show up in the visual media
are experts on this subject.
As a matter of fact,
it really is impossible to get enough in depth information from
these people. This is where the mistake comes from.
The
visitor was really confused by these answers which he had never
heard before. For
this reason he wanted to carry the subject to another direction.
What
are your dreams for
the future?
Imagination is the work of Neptune. It is wrong to imagine and dream for the future. It mostly
ends up with delusion, therefore I do not recommend. However,
there are some exceptional people and all the things that they
imagine become real. Only
the saints can have imaginations which become true. IF you know
some of them , if you can perceive what they are
thinking, then try to think of something in the same parallel.
When you do so, be sure that
you will be coming across to the truth, the real.
This
answer was too much exaggerated
for him. As far as
he knew and what he has heard so far only Allah knows the hidden
facts.
He said to himself ‘’Most
probably he is not telling the truth.
What is the use of talking about the planet
Neptune.’’ However,
it seemed as if he could not stop the questions from coming to
his mind.
As there
isn’t any compelling in
the religion, then what do you think of such actions which can
be considered as a pressure factor?
I cannot accept the pressure, the compelling. However, making
comments on those who are using the factors of pressure and
force may create an understanding of
pressure again.
There has
been great advancements in the technology. Therefore, this
states that the concept of
‘’secrecy’’ will no longer be valid and there are
examples for this: THE
man who was guilty of bombing three different districts in
London was caught with the help of the secret cameras.
Meanwhile, the private phones of many famous
personalities are being listened. It is possible to increase the
number of these examples. Let us assume that the secrecy has
reached very deep dimensions… Then what would you think about
this?
It is not logical to accept such a point of view in today’s
world which has fallen far away from the spiritual, moral
values. I think to
keep a continuous watch over the private aspects of the human
beings and to say that this is a basic principle is a negative
factor. Only, as
you have stated,
the ones which are being made for the benefit of the society can
be considered as rational. There are very peculiar ones among
our people. When the secrecy is being followed in certain
places, it could be a reason for making people give up what they
are doing and it could also be a part of the service given. I
agree that this should be applied in certain work places and
some super markets. If
it is applied solely towards the privacy of the individuals,
then I would prefer to leave that point untouched.
I agree with
those who say that the individual’s private life belongs only
to himself. Mysticism
makes this warning by saying ‘’the things that the others
are doing does not concern you’’. The best part of being
open, being transparent lies in the secrecy that is inherent in
its essence. Hz.Mohammad
has said to the people ‘’Talk to the people according to the
capacity of
their minds’’. I
am perceiving this as ‘’Do not say anything to them which
should not be said openly’’. This is my opinion.
Did you
ever think that the world is turning around you or something
like ‘’It’s me who have created the small mountains’’?
Well, my mind controls my body. I find refuge in Allah in order not to fall into the trap of
such an illness.
All
right, then I am going to ask you a question about a popular
subject. Is there anyone who is called as ‘’Mahdi’’?
Is this esteemed being going to show up in this world?
I am not interested in the affairs regarding the Mahdi. I am
concerned in finding what
is in my essence.
I really
could not figure out if you have been a little bit sarcastic in
your answers. I have asked you the question ‘’IS there
anyone as the Mahdi?’’, but you have carried the subject to
somewhere else!
The hadiths are telling that an esteemed person named as Mahdi
exists. If he beomes apparent, then all of us will see.
I think you should refer to the Hadith books on this
subject. I can say also say that the qualities such as being
sarcastic and the similar ones are not found in the data base of
my brain.
What is
going to happen after we die?
We’ll see the things that would happen.
Can you
explain a little bit?… The atheist people do not accept
anything beyond the material world, it could be said that they
are not accepting the reflections from the other universe. What
do you think about them?
The opinions about the after life realm could be found in the
mystic books. Every
idea belongs to its believers.
What is atheism? It
is necessary to investigate this concept in the first place.
Then, we can proceed to speak about the universe which they do
not accept and the reasons of their disinterest…
Atheism is a philosophical concept. It is the point of view
which brings forth a reactive idea against the belief in
idols/gods.
Even if it has not been very common in history, this is the name
given to an important concept which
has been exisiting since the old ages and mentioned by
some philosophers.
Please note what I’ve said.
I’ve said that this a level of understanding reached
after making an evalauation against the belief in god.
Today, the mystical understanding refuses the concept of
god to be worshipped.
This is the meaning of the Word of Unity . After
this common point, atheism and mysticism get separated and
follow different paths. In
the atheist point of view everything finishes at this point,
whereas in mysticism along with the absence of the god to be
worshipped, the necessary steps are taken to understand the
whole existence, the system and to have an in depth research in
this subject. In athesim there is no such a thing and the easy
way is preferred. This is the
refusal to accept the life in the after-life realm which leads
to denial.
As a matter of fact, beneath every denial lies a real fact and
it is very difficult to become conscious of this point.
I find it very beneficial to remind the following point.
The number of people who are placing their hopes on
material values and receiving their power from them
increases day by day. This factor should not be
overlooked…
What is
the main objective of your life?
Living in the direction of my beliefs, my faith… Also,
developing myself, my mind in parallel to these.
Which
book would you like to read when you are approaching the last
day?
The Qoran-al Kerim,
The Scientific books,
The Hadiths
I would like to read all the three equally.
Do you
have any favorite names in mysticism?
For me, every one of them is a flower from the gardens of
Heaven.
Is there anyone who sees himself as a favorite?
If someone is favorite, he would never say that he is so, but
make this fact be understood through his perfection. This can only be perceived.
Do you
believe in returning back or reincarnation?
In my opinion there is no such a thing…
The
visitor had not liked this answer at all.
It was
obvious that he was believeing in reincarnation and he was
living with a special understanding of
justice pertaining only tohimself.
HE did not hesitate
to bring out into the open what he has been covering up and
added with a smiling face
- Well,
my friend you would better write in the column of the journalist
Ms.Ayþe Arman, (she is
someone criticised mostly buy the traditional classical
journalists) that would be the appropriate thing
for you to do…
It was
almost dark. They could not understand how time had passed.
Outside
the cold air and the tiny drops of the falling rain was waiting
for them…
