Here, in this corner we have discussed different subjects. We were just about to make a discussion about ‘’Women’’, there happenned another earthquake. So, we had to leave this subject and we tried to investigate the disaster with every aspect. Now, let us turn back to the subject that we have left… The strongest feminist writers, who always defend that the man and the woman have equal rights, have criticised our prime minister during his official visit to the United States. They were angry because the prime minister was together with his wife while he was talking to President Clinton and they said that this was against the rules of the protocole. This mentality cannot bear to see a woman taking place in the protocole in spite of the fact that most women are trying to continue their lives under the protection of a man. It is very difficult to understand how such a mentality approves the women to perform the funeral salaat together with men, side by side!… What is wanted to be explained is that the rules and conditions bring along the specific status for every single happenning and one has to obey these principles within the framework of the system. One of the individuals who do not want certain rights to be given to women is the famous English writer Ms.Fay Weldon. In spite of the fact that she, herself is a woman accepting the feminist ideas, she says openly ‘’The women do not deserve to have higher positons in the society.’’ I think that if these words had been pronounced by a man , the intellectual movements would have beaten him very much. Along with these, both the general opinion and the values of the society agree that the woman is an indispensable factor. However, when it comes to criticising they do not hesitate to make her a target for their cruel judgements. Another important point is that no matter how much the principle of equality is defended by the women and the feminist views, the statistics are stating the contrary. In a life order which necessitates the mind and logic to be dominant,the women have a different sensitive structure where the feelings are playing the major role. Until today, with this unchanging structure, the woman has been accepted as the shadow of the man. In the mystical area, there hasn’t been any Rasul or Nabi among the women. The ones who could become saints are considerably low in number. Based on the Khoranic data, Hz Rasul of Allah has given the human beings the good news that they have the quality to be a caliph without making any discrimination among the sexes. When he evaluated the position of the woman within the system with respect to her sensitivity/sentimentality he said ‘’Among the rows made up by men, the most blessed is the first row. The worst is the last row. Among the rows made up by women, the most blessed is the last row. The worst is the one at the front.’’ He
also said, ‘’If she would obey, I would have ordered the woman to obey her husband’’… This is not a contradiction, but the reality of life. In spite of these, there is a considerable number of men who go in the direction of a woman and who follow her words regardless of the fact that they are married or not. This behaviour which is very common among men is a result of the sexual power and its strength in making the people do things. There are very few women who can stand the difficult conditions of life, who are powerful and who can place their minds in front of their feelings. Most probably, the Prime Minister’s wife has these qualities… One wishes to be together with humans like her all the time in every place. Even in the protocole… Ahmet F. Yuksel
